PanOxyl is a skincare brand that produces acne-fighting OTC formulations. If you have ever been an acne sufferer, you must have heard of its name at least once.

The dermatologically-approved brand uses different strengths of benzoyl peroxide in its products. All of them work similarly by killing the bacteria, unclogging the pores, and preventing future breakouts.

But, is it cruelty-free and actually worth a try? Let’s find out.

Is PanOxyl Cruelty-Free?

I am certain you’ll be as thrilled as I was to discover that the brand is cruelty-free. All four products by the brand are not tried on animals in any form, during any part of the manufacturing phase.

The brand also doesn’t employ any external parties to carry out testing procedures. Moreover, it doesn’t allow or agree to animal trials wherever necessary, nor does it sell in such places.

Is it sold in China?

The brand is not physically sold in Mainland China, where animal testing is an essential requirement. However, it can be bought online through various sources.

This doesn’t mean that the brand allows testing on Chinese territory. As per China’s latest laws, if the company is only selling its products online by directly shipping to the clients, it doesn’t have to go through animal testing.

The same rule applies to other online selling platforms in the country. So whether the company directly sells to Chinese customers or uses other local platforms, it maintains its cruelty-free position.

Who owns PanOxyl?

The brand is owned by a renowned global skincare company Crown Laboratories. The firm is known to produce an assorted collection of the finest skincare and healing products.

The firm also provides agreement-based production services for pharmaceutical products to its numerous global partners.

With its impressive range of both Rx and OTC products, the company owns several popular proprietary and FDA-approved formulations, one of which is PanOxyl.

Due to its safe and mild yet highly effective formulations, the company is expected to become a frontrunner in the world of skincare soon.

Most importantly, the company is against animal torture and never uses it as an excuse for ensuring the efficiency of its products.

Products offered by the Brand

The brand offers four different types of products, all of which target acne. Here’s a brief introduction to them all.

One of the biggest causes of breakouts is excessively oily skin. This product effectively takes care of this problem while nourishing it.

This lightweight and non-comedogenic formula soaks up extra oil from your skin without clogging up your pores.

The product also contains hyaluronic acid, green tea, and caffeine, all of which work together to keep your skin moisturized without additional shine.

Most acne-fighting products make your skin extra sensitive and prone to sun damage. But, this formula contains SPF 30 with Zinc Oxide, which provides a defensive layer to your skin against the harmful ultraviolet rays

Considered as no.1 acne wash in the whole United States, it comes with a potent formula to fight acne quickly and effectively.

The product offers the highest concentration of benzoyl peroxide i.e. 10%, which swiftly annihilates the acne-causing microbes to stop future breakouts, in addition to clearing up the existing ones.

This is an excellent product for daily use and can be used all over the body including the chest and back.

Does it ever happen to you that an ugly zit pops up right before an important event? If yes, then you are not alone. I have also been there and that feeling is the worst.

Luckily, we don’t have to go through that mental torture anymore. These spot patches by the brand are specially designed to provide faster healing for your blemishes.

Available in 2 different sizes, this product works by soaking up secretions and bringing down the swelling.

Free of parabens, sulfates, and scents, this product brings a visible difference to the size of your zit.

Last but not the least, this creamy wash comes with a gentler formula for people with sensitive skin. With a concentration of 4%, this product is suitable for daily use.

This product also works by killing acne-producing bacteria to stop acne formation while getting rid of the already present pimples.

Since it’s a creamy formula, it provides deep hydration to the skin while balancing out its pH.

Is PanOxyl Vegan-friendly?

Although PanOxyl is entirely cruelty-free, I don’t think that it is entirely vegan. The reason for this claim is the brand’s utter silence on this matter. Nowhere has it mentioned that its products contain vegan-friendly formulations.

However, this shouldn’t necessarily mean that it isn’t vegan. So, I took a detailed glance at the ingredients list of its products.

While the key ingredients in its products are benzoyl peroxide and alcohol, they do contain glycerin as well.

Now, if you don’t know, Glycerin can be attained from either plant or animal sources. The most common animal source of glycerin is pig fat.

It is also a possibility that the brand doesn’t use animal-derived glycerin. But, until it decides to mention the source, I think it’s prudent to consider it a non-vegan option.

Is PanOxyl Ethical?

PanOxyl itself isn’t a company, but rather, a brand by the famous establishment Crown Labs, as mentioned above. So, let’s take a look at the ethical policies followed by the parent company.

  • The company is very vocal about its eco-friendly principles. Therefore, it only pursues partnerships with companies that are on the same page.
  • Empowerment of the local communities is yet another noble value followed by the company.
