Is Too Cool For School Cruelty-Free & Vegan?

It’s a Korean make-up brand that has made its way to New York and London in no time. The reason behind the company’s sudden popularity is its unique and artistic style.

Since the brand targets a young audience (16-25 years), they design their products accordingly. Their packaging is artistic and cheeky, hence the reason why they catch every teenager’s eyes.

Their cute packaging may have upped their game in the competitive market but that’s not the only thing the brand offers.

Everything from their highlighters to makeup brushes and face masks has high-quality ingredients and feels fantastic on the skin.

Too Cool For School has a wide range of makeup, skincare, and body care which it has something to offer to everyone.

Their most trending products include Art class Frottage Pencil, Art class By Rodin Shading, and Art class By Rodin Finish Setting Pact.

So, in short, Too Cool For School is a cheeky, artistic brand loved by young adults around the globe. But the question is, Is Too Cool For School cruelty-free?

For that, we need to understand what being cruelty-free truly means. We’ve made a list of all the conditions that a company must fulfill to prove that it’s animal friendly. So, let’s take a look before discussing this further.

1.     The company must not test its final products on animal subjects.

2.     The company must not perform animal testing of the individual ingredients used in their products.

3.     The company must not have any contract with a third party to carry out animal testing on their behalf.

4.     The company must go through regular audits and sign a binding contract that forbids them from carrying out any animal test.

5.     The company must not be selling its products in countries (China) where animal testing is mandatory.

6.     The parent company being cruelty-free may also play a crucial part.

According to Too Cool For School’s official website, the company does not test its products on animals before marketing.

The statement says,

“We do not perform any pre-market animal testing and absolutely no testing at any stages of post-market between Korea and the United States. However, China has a strict policey, a hygiene permit is required for any product to enter in  the country.”

This means that Too Cool for School does not carry out animal testing in counties where the law does not ask for it.

But since the company sells in mainland China, they perform animal testing on products sold there.

It is not known whether the brand does the testing all by itself or has hired a third party to do its work. Either way, the brand is involved in torturing poor animals, and it is safe to say that Too Cool For School is not cruelty-free.

Is Too Cool For School Vegan-Friendly?

Vegan-friendly products are the ones that do not contain any ingredients extracted from animals.

The most common animal-derived ingredients used in the cosmetics industry are beeswax, gelatin, lanolin, honey, shellac, and carmine.

Make-up lovers around the globe are switching to vegan cosmetics because they are far superior to conventional ones.

You must be wondering if we have anything to prove our claim, right? Well, we are getting down to it.

Did you know that human skin absorbs sixty percent of any product you apply to it?

If you didn’t, now you do. Imagine having your skin absorb synthetic chemicals, dead insects, and uric acid from cows. Like, all this would lead you to breakouts and much more.

Vegan products, on the other hand, contain fewer chemicals and are packed with beneficial ingredients like aloe vera gel, vitamins, and tea-tree oil.

These ingredients are well suited for all skin types, prevent breakouts and give a youthful appearance.

Not only that, but Vegan brands are also animal and eco-friendly. They believe in recycling the materials they use in making and packing their products.

Now that you know all the benefits of using vegan-friendly products, let’s come down to the main question. Is Too Cool For School vegan friendly?

Too cool for school offers its consumers certain vegan products like makeup brushes. But they have a wide range of face masks containing eggs. This proves that the company is not 100% vegan.

Is Too Cool For School ethical?

There is no legal definition of ethical beauty. But there is a specific criterion that a brand must meet to be labeled as ethical.

An ethical brand cares about the well-being of both humans and animals. This means they have to be vegan-friendly, organic, and cruelty-free.

No brand that tests on animals, uses animal products, by-products, or harmful chemicals such as parabens can be ethical.

Since Too Cool for School is not certified as vegan, cruelty-free, and has a huge market in mainland China, it is safe to say that the brand is not ethical.
